What is a Complex Adaptive System?
The business dictionary explains Complex Adaptive Systems (CAS) as an entity consisting of many diverse and autonomous components or parts (called agents) which are interrelated, interdependent, linked through many (dense) interconnections, and behave as a unified whole in learning from experience and in adjusting (not just reacting) to changes in the environment.
Nine Steps to Becoming a CAS Organization
Purpose and Adaptation
The habit of acting in terms of monetary return on investment (ROI) has to be assuaged by reinforcing that a CAS has two aspects: raison d'etre and adaptation. The organization will have to engineer the reality of core values being viscerally experienced and becoming an ongoing anchor for action and adaptation.
Individual Authenticity
What it takes to generate multidimensional wealth is a CAS driven by individual authenticity. To make this a reality, the organization is going to have to push for a flattening of the organization, which allows for self-management within a framework of accountabilities. Coaches instead of managers, and progression driven by enhancing skills rather than by fancier titles, are the stepping stones.
Four Fundamental Ideals
There are four fundamental ideals that build everything and have to exist in balance to create a wealth-generating CAS. These ideals of knowledge, power, presence and harmony can be viewed as a cultural undertaking that creates the sustainable foundation in physical, chemical, biological, and all human systems.
Stability and Dynamism
Organizations must spearhead programs that allow teams to drive to greater levels of organizational maturity by themselves. It is important to have a real-time mirror. Such a program must culminate in the recognition of real-time patterns that foster continuous improvement (the dynamic aspect of a CAS), and the real-time assessment of core values and other important edifices of culture (the stable aspect of a CAS).
Uncommon Language
Organizations must drive the use of uncommon language to facilitate seeing the same market differently. The use of such language will open stakeholders' eyes to potential and desirable complexification of the four ideals by altering individual neural nets, thereby attuning us to additional sources of wealth. Increased revenues will be the side effect of new sight.
Emergence and Co-Evolution
As an organization scales, it must drive the maintenance of creativity. Paradoxically, leveraging entropy — the increase in the level of disorganization — will increase creativity on an ongoing basis. Programs must clarify the connection between entropy, creativity and EQ. Such programs must also highlight the importance of a superlinear-sublinear differential and other CAS principles such as emergence and co-evolution, which signal the generation of wealth.
Optimizing Entropy
The world is as at an inflection point, or in CAS terms, is "far from equilibrium." In such a state, organizations must drive new approaches to thinking and planning. Such approaches must be inherently dynamic and are best framed by algorithms, whether focused on solving internal organizational problems, or on approaching the external market.
Multiple Creative Centers
It is in the interest of CAS to have many creative centers, to the point where when aggregated, these do not become a bureaucracy. Organizations must facilitate the emergence of such centers by creating an environment where a person can follow their heart. Such a path is likely to create true wealth.
Multidimensional Flexibility
Operationalization of living centers is critical. This means that horizontal and vertical flexibility have to be exercised such that a deep trend is latched onto. Horizontal flexibility can be achieved by layering self-management with a more dynamic market-based view. Internalization of core values facilitates vertical flexibility.
The Fractal Nature of CAS
Each individual agent of a CAS is itself a complex adaptive system: a tree, for example, is a CAS within a larger CAS (a forest) which is a CAS in a still larger CAS (an ecosystem). Similarly a member of a group is just one CAS in a chain of several, progressively encompassing a community, a society, and a nation. Each agent maintains itself in an environment which it creates through its interactions with other agents.

Sustainable Wealth Generation is Achievable
Generating sustainable wealth requires changes at the individual, team, organization, and market levels. We help you take your organization to a level of maturity unaccessible through traditional methods. Traditional views of how markets and companies operate are no longer sustainable. Our generalized equation of innovation takes a 10,000 foot view and looks at the overall patterns of behavior and groups them into 4 self-similar sets. Once these patterns are understood leaders can improve resiliency and innovation.
Bringing Science to the Art of Managing Complexity
As organizations and systems become more complex it is useful to perceive them differently, using diverse analytical lenses.
Our natural intuition lends itself to linear thinking, but our global economy is growing in a non-linear way, and very few companies are prepared for this. It’s time to start thinking about organizations as complex adaptive systems, knowing where a small change now can make a big difference later.
Traditional views of how markets and companies operate are no longer sustainable. Click below to gain access a step-by-step program to create sustainable wealth.
Sustainable Wealth Formula
Underlying the Sustainable Wealth Formula, organizations need to learn to speak in the language of humans and human potential, and in doing so remind businesses, leaders and organizations in general of what it means to be human.
Algorithms for individual development, and development of key organizational principles, can similarly be created. In concert, they can push an organization toward unstoppable sustainability.
Corporations must reorient to focus on the sustainable generation of wealth.

Light is an abundant and untapped resource that is instrumental in facilitating change. There is no boundary to the type of change. Since light is in everything, and everything arises from light, the act of visualizing light can begin to connect us with light-based information fields and real situations can be altered.

Experience Light on a Whole New Level With Our Light Dynamics Workshop Series
The Power of Light
Level 0: The Foundational Workshop (Level 0) essentially aims at allowing participants to have some fun with Light. We keep the theory to the least possible to allow this. Necessarily the essential point of view of why Light is perceived to be the foundation for a cosmology is covered, but beyond that it is practice in seeing differently. Participants will practice “dual-vision” and playing with a self-generated “light-sphere”. These and some other practices will facilitate change in unexpected ways.
The Dynamics of Light
Level 1: The objective of this workshop is to introduce a light-based process and technology to help manage a variety of practical issues. The first half of the workshop will explore two questions – what is light made up of, and what is made up of light? This interactive inquiry will allow participants to perceive light differently. The second half of the workshop will build on this new perception to focus on seeing and acting on situations differently.
The Cosmology of Light
Level 2: In the Level 2 workshop we will delve into the mystery of space, time, energy, and gravity and understand how they too are a play of Light. In a Cosmology of Light, space, time, energy, and gravity are fundamental dynamics that allow infinite possibility to materialize. In exploring how this is the case the participant will be able to penetrate much deeper into the mystery that is Light.
